Dear Anita, first of all I would very much like to THANK You for the excellent services rendered, and not only but particularly for our last night in SA at the Airport Hotel in JB. All places chosen by You have been to our entire liking and satisfaction - except the one at Chrissiesmeer, which we happened to visit on our way to Hazyview. This location -in the middle of a mainly black community- but particularly its rooms are below a 3 star level! Instead we strongly recommend Florence Farm Guesthouse, perfectly ell run by the owners Ané Steinberg. We also strongly can recommend Pleasant Places at Lidgetton near Howick and, on the border to the Wetlands WENDYS at Mtubatuba. As You might remember we stayed in a Timeshare of our friends at Hazyview called Waterberry Hills, but searched for other -better- places in the surrounding and found at least two worthwhile to visit and stay: The Chilli Pepper Lodge with seven impressively decorated Apartments and the Sommerfields Rose Farm with its remarkably good Restaurant and some Chalets (which we did not check). There is a third place nearby Hazyview worthwhile being considered for a stay, the Casa do Sol Hotel! Driving through very impressive mountains in that area we stopped for a cup of coffee at the Misty Mountain Restaurant with Chalets on top of the Long Tom Pass -Mpumalanga-, a place we would have liked to stay a few days because of the hospitality of the people as well as the fantastic views! There might be one more of our experience of interest to You too: In the Hotel we booked a 4 hours Soweto&Johannesburg Tour - for only R 290 pp and have been very pleased with our black guide as well as the short tour particularly its Soweto-part! Summery: With respect to personal security or danger of crime we drove 6.700 km without any problem. Of course the -electric- fencing of most houses particularly on the countryside indicates that there exists crime and some danger. But there is no doubt in our mind that travelling BRASIL, a country we know very well, is much more dangerous and crime not only in big cities is much more common! On the other hand there is no doubt that SA and its Government, despite the hundred thousands of small houses already built for the blacks is still faced with the very serious and difficult task of slowly reducing the very high unemployment rate and to sort of integrating the different colours making this great country sort of a "melting pot" and by this avoiding social unrest. In our opinion very much depends on the next President and on what will happen after Mandela's death! There is no doubt that we both are wishing South Africa and YOU all the best for the years to come. Thanks again for Your excellent service, dear Anita, and lots of luck and success personally and with Your business! Warmest regards Monika&Rolf
