one-year volunteer

I want become a volunteer and work with lions. I'm making a gap of year and and want spend all  year with lions, i will be free in July. How can I do that? I'm a poor student and i don't have any money for fee. Is there any chance to not paying this?

All our project have a fee attached, its very hard getting places to work for free as your accommodation and meals cost the projects, all the projects have permanent local staff filling the positions.

I would suggest you try several places as the atmosphere is not the same everywhere and also where I went, you pay half the price when you return (and even, in my case for an extension)
